Franchise:Khuntai Restaurant
From Malaysia - Wiki Street Food
Khuntai Restaurant is definitely a heaven for those craving for a delicious yet authentic Thai food, with emphasis on grilled/BBQ meats and seafood, and dining al fresco style, in Butterworth, Penang and Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The main branch in Butterworth is started since 1994, while the PJ brach is around 2007. The boss 严正明 is a chinese, anyway most of them chefs and ingredient of the foods are from Thailand.
Location
Butterworth, Penang
If you are going from Penang bridge to this place via North South Expressway, follow the way to Permatang Pauh, do not exit at Permatang Pauh. Use the next exit after Permatang Pauh which is to Bagan Ajam and Sungai Dua. Once out keep to you left which is on Butterworth Outter Ring Road. After the second flyover keep left and make a U-turn to Jalan Raja Uda. Move forward for another 50 meters and you will see Khuntai Restaurant on your right hand side.
Petaling Jaya, Selangor
It is located in Petaling Garden/Section 5 of Petaling Jaya.
Environment
It is a spacious restaurant, with its own parking lot by the side. Anyway customer can also park haphazardly anywhere at all, given the rather obscure location.
Inside the restaurant there are many small huts made of dried leaves and canes surrounding the main building. For those who want to have an easy access and faster service, they can always choose to dine at the main building. Besides the main dining hall, customer may also opt for the huts and shades on the exterior part of the restaurant. Just some "feel" of being in Thailand as the table and chairs are all bamboo made.
For diner who is waiting for their food, they can come to the seafood display corner to see many of the rare seafood, for example lobsters, spider Crabs and even fresh water prawns.
Food
Most of dishes here taste very great. Some of the recommended dishes are listed as below. The price is around RM20 onwards per person. Quite reasonable with these mouth watering Thai cuisine.
Even Singapore New Media artists recommended their food before. Click link below for video clip:
