Penang:BB Food Court
From Malaysia - Wiki Street Food
Within Penang Bayan Lepas area, it is not surprise that if we randomly ask a people, which is the best place for lunch, they will mentioned BB Food Court as one of the recommendations. The reason for that probably comes from the total score of of this food court from different aspects, which is almost above average for every one of them, including food varieties, quality, price and dining environment.
Talking about the food varieties, at the moment customer step in to this food court, they will found that there are many small food stalls at the ground floor. For example stall which sell curry mee (咖哩面), Wan Tan mee (云吞面), Ban mee (板面), roasted chicken and pork rice (烧腊饭), Hokkien mee (福建面/虾面), fried rice/noodle (炒饭/面), economic rice (杂饭), Laksa and others. By having these varieties of local foods is actually an attraction to most people, because people can have more choices and less headache.
On top of that, the quality of the food is also not bad and some of them are even quite famous within this area or even Penang. The most unforgettable food here is definitely the curry mee (咖哩面). Although the stall is small but there are a lot of curry mee options from this little stall. For example pork ribs curry mee (排骨咖哩面), squid curry mee (鱿鱼咖哩面) or Cha Siu curry mee (叉烧咖哩面). Not only that, the more stunning fact is customer can have a choice of curry mee soup, dry curry mee or even semi-dry curry mee. The semi-dry curry mee taste a bit like Sarawak Laksa but the paste of the curry mee is thicker compared to soup curry mee and customer can hardly get to try this from other place.
While another recommended stall is the Ban mee (板面) stall. Some of them even said that the Ban mee here is even better than Bukit Jambul Hou Mei Yuen Ban Mian (好味园板面). Ban mee here is self made by using a machine to flatten or hands to tear the dough into pieces. The stall owner is quite generous in the ingredients and the Ban mee has a very clear soup based. The soup is also very sweet due to it is cooked with a lot of anchovies. By just looking at the presentation of a hot bowl of sweet and clear soup with different kinds of ingredient already can bring a feeling of happiness to customer.
Other than that, the dining area especially the one at second floor is above average compare to a lot of food courts, due to it is air-conditioning. While the price to pay is reasonable. Overall, BB Food Court is definitely one of a place for lunch that worth to try or keep on coming again and again.
