Penang:Chilli Corner Thai Cuisine

Chilli Corner Thai Cuisine restaurant is a small restaurant which runs by two brothers, Jeffrey and Freddie Loh. Jeffrey is also the chef of this restaurant. The restaurant is located nearby Continental bakery (五洲糕饼) and New World Park Hawker Center (新世界小贩中心).
While entering the restaurant, most of the customer would be attracted by the decoration of this place, which could easily tell them that the owner is an ardent angler. In fact this is true and most of the decoration comes from Jeffrey, who loves fishing. He hangs a lot of photo which show his fishing "achievement" on the wall. Besides, there are a lot of other decorations which able to let the customer feel like they are navigating on a ship.

Anyway the main idea of the shop is not selling seafood, in fact it is Jeffrey another greatest skill, which is Thai cuisine. The restaurant actually do serve quite a number of Thai cuisine, for example Pucha, Pandan chicken, Kerabu mango, Tom Yam Seafood, Seafood Otak-otak, green curry chicken, Keng Prik, Pud Pet, Tab Tim Grob and many others (Please enlarge the menu above for full list). After taken order, they serve an Thai appetizer whether customer order it or not, which consists of ulam and spicy sambal. It is quite special and the way to eat it to dip the fresh raw vegetable with their home made sambal.
While the quality of some main dishes are around average, especially while comparing it with the price. Besides the time of preparation for customer's order is a bit slow. Anyway, after all this is just an ordinary Thai cuisine restaurant, if customer are just looking for satisfied Thai food but not unforgettable experience, Chilli Corner Thai Cuisine is still a good choice.
