Penang:Gee Seng Seafood

Bukit Tambun is a small fishing village about 30-45 minutes across from Penang Island, it is also a seafood lover paradise. While Penang is blessed with a wide array of great seafood eateries, many Penang locals often drive across the Penang Bridge to look for the best, freshest, and cheapest offerings, Bukit Tambun, which is blessed with countless seafood restaurants dotting its main street and these restaurants offer lots of fresh bounties of the sea.
Within Bukit Tambun, there are a few seafood restaurants which are quite famous. One of them is Gee Seng Restaurant(义成海鲜楼), which is famous because of a few reasons. Firstly, it is one of the very few restaurants which has a dining area build on top or beside of the river bank, with relaxing environment. Secondly, there are many varieties to choose from. Most importantly is the price is extremely cheap with a lot of heavenly taste seafood dishes.
Anyway this restaurant is not located beside the main road of Bukit Tambun, in fact it is at the very end of a congested street. Parking could be a problem here, especially when customer reach here later than around 7pm of weekend. Luckily there are some staffs who taken care of the parking arrangement with a price of RM2 only.
Although there are many varieties of seafood dishes in Gee Seng Restaurant and most of them taste very good, there are a few signature dishes that highly recommended by many people. This includes sweet and sour crab with fried steamed bread, baked crab, mantis prawn, deep fried calamari(炸苏东), butter or Nestum prawns, steamed fish, tom yam stingray, steamed stingray(清蒸魔鬼鱼), steamed spiky snail, steamed fresh scallop and others. Freshness of the seafood is the main reason behind these mouth watering dishes.
Another credit of this restaurant comes from their speed of serving the order. Overall, Gee Seng Restaurant is definitely one of representation of seafood restaurants in Bukit Tambun and a must try for seafood lovers. The river side environment, fast service, many varieties of dishes, cheap price and heavenly taste fresh seafood make this restaurant an extremely successful one.
