For those working around Penang Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone, should aware of Jalan Tengah Sim Food Court. It is hidden right within some apartments along Jalan Tengah, Bayan Baru. There are roughly more than 20 stalls along the shop lots at the ground floor of the apartment. This cafe is usually be packed with factory workers during lunch time due to most of the people like the great varieties of food and some with large portion of food served at a reasonable price.

Among all these stalls, there are a few which are quite popular compare to others. One of them is The Nest Chicken Rice. By looking at the long queue in front of this stall already can tell how popular it is. In fact it is not an ordinary chicken rice stall as the chicken were neither roasted with soy sauce nor boiled. The "All drumstick plus thigh" chicken came in three flavors, namely Turmeric Roasted Chicken, KFC Batter-like Fried Chicken and Black Pepper Grill Chicken. Depending on customer selection of side dishes which would include salad, fried bean curd, omelette, prawn fritters and fish fritters.

Another stall which is quite famous in selling chicken rice is the Lik Tar Hong Kong B.B.Q. Chicken and Duck Rice (力大港式鸡鸭烧腊饭) which is just located beside The Nest Chicken Rice. Same like The Nest Chicken Rice, this stall has a long queue in front of it during lunch time. It is profession in selling roasted duck, roasted chicken, roasted pork and steamed chicken rice. Besides, the stall also provides telephone booking service (016-4327364).

Other than that, quite a lot of people loves the Jawa noodle sells by another stalls. Customer can have it served fried or with the sweet potato soup and the owner would not be stingy to top it off with a lot of ingredients, all for a mere RM2.50. A bigger plate with more crackers would only be RM3.00. Each plate would come with sliced fried bean curd, boiled potatoes, eggs, prawn fritters and crunchy anchovy crackers, garnished with pounded peanuts and lettuce, and served with half a lime and some chili paste (sambal). The fried one had all the tasty spices seeped into the yellow noodles used and was topped with a little gravy. The soup one was just boiled yellow noodles with more sweet potato gravy.

How to go? If coming from Gelugor or Jelutong Expressway towards the old Penang International Airport highway along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, will reach the Jalan Mahsuri traffic light (turn right and it will head to Sunshine Square/SunTech Cyber City). Ignore this traffic and drive on until Jalan Tengah traffic light. Turn right into Jalan Tengah and drive on until another traffic light. Turn left into Jalan Mayang Pasir and then first junction on the left hand side into the Kampung Gedung Apartments. There would be a lot of lanes between all the apartments. Try to find a parking space near to Block 70, Block 72 or Block 74. The hawker center is just at the ground floor of Block 70.
