Penang:Jit Seng Roasted Duck Rice

Jit Seng Roasted Duck Rice is very famous within Penang and it should be the only famous roasted duck rice stall that specialize in preparing Hong Kong style roasted duck rice. This duck rice stall is just located at the junction of Carnarvon street and Hong Kong street.
According to the owner Ah Piew (Also known as Mr. Lim), his skill of duck roasting was honed from Hong Kong master. That's why, he had Hong Kong specifically added to the signboard to emphasis the authenticity. In order to provide highest quality roasted duck, Ah Piew prefer premium duck breed, which is also known as anas penelope(鹅仔鸭), of at least over 40 days old, is used, and roasting is done over charcoal flame. The result of the roasted duck comes with crunchy duck skin with tender and juicy duck meat with a slight fragrance on the meat. By dipping the aromatic, tender duck meat into secret homemade sauce, the taste is indescribably tasty. Besides, the meat is also served in generous portion.
Other than the famous roasted duck, this stall also sells roasted pork, roasted chicken, Char Siew (Sweet roasted pork) and Chinese sausage. The roast duck costs RM36-38, roast chicken at RM18 and roast pork or Char Siew at RM35 per kg. Each order costs between RM4 to RM8, depending on the combination customer ordered. Overall the price is reasonable due to it comes with generous portion.
While talking about the environment here, it is an old style coffee shop with an open dining area. Although it is not air-conditioning, it is not hot here due to there are some tree shades beside the coffee shop which bring in some wind occasionally. Overall, it is an unforgettable experience of tasting mouth watering crispy, tender and slightly oily roasted duck at an old style coffee shop which is quite relaxing.
