Penang:Kim Hooi Seafood
From Malaysia - Wiki Street Food
Nearby Penang George Town Francis Light school, there is a Chinese Zhu Cha stall Kim Hooi Seafood(金辉海鲜大排挡), which is quite popular. The stall has been operating in this Restaurant 2828 since 2002, but before that they already have few years of experience in providing mixture of Cantonese and Hakka Zhu Cha. One of the reason this stall can receive recognition from customer is because their dishes here are having the taste of family dinner spread and with cheap pricing compare to many other Zhu Cha stalls.
While talking about the recommended food of this stall, there are a few dishes which is outstanding. This includes their House special Tou Fu(招牌豆腐), braised pork ribs and Hakka fried pork belly(客家炸肉). For their House special Tou Fu, the Tou Fu slices are silky smooth and nearly melt in mouth. This dish comes with some mild gravy accompanied with some sliced Chinese mushrooms, peas, dried scallops and a touch of Chinese wine. Other than that, their braised pork ribs taste remarkably unique and the ribs are tender. This dish consists of chosen pieces of pork ribs which marinated with red fermented bean curd, fried and then braised with some chopped salted vegetables.
Other than these, dishes like plum sauce chicken(梅子雞), stir fry grouper fish fillet with fresh enokitake(金針菇石斑魚片), fried king prawns with Stout(黑啤酒蝦), stuffed bitter gourd are quite nice too. For customer who prefer to have some soup, the stall will have at least two types of soups available daily, for example the winter melon soup(冬瓜湯) and beet root soup(地瓜湯).
Overall, although Kim Hooi Seafood(金辉海鲜大排挡) is just an ordinary low profile Zhu Cha stall, the foods here are great with comparable cheap price.
