Penang:Kim Maou Cafe
From Malaysia - Wiki Street Food
Lebuh Cintra is definitely one of the street with most local food stalls or restaurants in Penang. Quite a lot of the stalls or restaurants are operating by different owners during day and night time. When night falls, there is a restaurant at this street which is selling nice soup and fried noodle. The restaurant is Kim Maou Cafe(和记生鱼头米粉).
By looking at the outward appearance of this restaurant, most probably it is not able to trigger people's desire to have their meal here. This is due to the stall is inside an unpretentious, low profile style and undecorated world war two style shop. The interior of the restaurant even strengthen this feeling with shedding wall painting.
But when customer takes the first bite of the food, most of them might change their mind and start loving this restaurant, due to the mouth watering and above average taste dishes. Kim Maou Cafe is specialize in serving different kinds of ordinary chinese fried and soup noodles. Although the kinds of fried noodles serving here are quite common, the taste is good. This is probably because of the owner is very generous in his ingredient (Imagine having prawn, fish cube, pork slice and pork innards in a simple dish), the ingredients are very fresh and the chef's technique in timing control is very good. While talking about soup noodle, the fish head silver noodle should be something worth to try.
Overall, if customer is expecting to have a good fried noodle or fish head noodle food hunt experience, Kim Maou Cafe(和记生鱼头米粉) is definitely a good choice. Dining in this old style restaurant that located in a historic street brings another kind of joy, similar to walking in the time path back to pass and go through what people did decades ago.
