Penang:Mantis Shrimp Village Seafood (虾姑村海鲜)
From Malaysia - Wiki Street Food
Mantis Shrimp Village Seafood (虾姑村海鲜) is a seafood restaurant which already open for around 3 years. It is located just beside the toll plaza exiting Bukit Tambun to Juru and one of the first few restaurants that customer would see. Besides, it is just nearby Penang:TS Fish Village (渔村海鲜楼).
While talking about the menu, Mantis Shrimp Village Seafood (虾姑村海鲜) serves various dishes, for example salted egg crab, Baba style steamed stingray, oyster omelette, butter prawns, fried glass noodles, claypot Japanese Taufu, stir fry abalone mushroom with broccoli and others. Anyway according to the owner, the most popular one in this restaurant of cause is their mantis shrimp (虾姑), especially the Carlsberg mantis shrimp. Customer could even chose the size of mantis they want, usually the bigger is nicer but of cause more expensive.
Anyway the quality of the food is quite subjective to different people. Based on feedback, some of the customer which already went there felt that their seafood is very fresh, delicious and the price is also considerable cheap. But some other customer felt differently that the waitress are very rude, the food portion is either too small or too big, the place is dirty and the price is very expensive. So it seems like the quality of service is not that stable here.
Carlsberg mantis shrimp (白啤酒虾姑), RM12
Salted egg crab (咸蛋螃蟹), RM45
Fried kang kong, RM6.00
