Within Penang, there are many night markets, or Pasar Malam. These night markets usually happening somewhere on almost every night of the week and serves the needs of the surrounding community. Every Saturday evening, there is a popular night market right opposite Sungai Dua Tesco Extra. Some locals even name it as Sungai Dua Tesco Extra night market, due to the location.

This night market is certainly a fun place to stroll around in the evening. What customer can expect from here are varieties of cheap merchandise of daily usage, for example cheap clothes, kitchen utensils, personal products and others. It is also one of the places where people can get pirated DVD being sold here.

Besides, Sungai Dua night market is also a paradise for street food lovers. Almost more than 50% of the stalls here are selling different kinds of street foods. For example Laksa, different noodles, freshly made prawn/fish cracker, local pancake, Loklok, varieties of drinks, Muar Chee, rojak, different kinds of breads, local desserts, satay, Taiwanese fried chicken and many others. Quite a lot of visitors skip their dinner and fill their tummy here.

Although not all foods that are selling here are heavenly good, by having so many varieties of street foods in the same area, has already become an attraction to locals. They can take away some snacks and eat it along the market while they are buying cloths. At some corners, they can also order a bowl of hot noodle, then find a small table to enjoy this light meal before going on.

Overall, Sungai Dua night market is definitely a good place for tourist to feel the true lifestyle that locals are living. For locals, it is a good place to enjoy bargaining cheap goods while having some light street foods.
