From Malaysia - Wiki Street Food
Menglembu is a main town in Ipoh city area Perak, Malaysia. It is at the foot of the Kledang Hill, which is a famous morning walk spot. Partly because of this famous hill, there are more shops and restaurants been setup within this area recently.
Among these restaurants, Gui Lao Ban Mee(鬼佬板面) is one of them which claims himself as the Ban Mee specialist. The restaurant is located not far away from Sun Wen Cau Seafood (新永久海鲜酒家) and even the Taman Emas food court. It is a single shop lot restaurant beside the main road.
While stepping into the restaurant, customer can easily read the menu of the dishes on the wall, which is quite convenient for them. Currently Gui Lao Ban Mee restaurant sells 5 different types of Ban Mee, which are the regular flavor Gui Lao Ban Mee, Yin Xai(A kind of vegetable) Ban Mee, Golden Ban Mee(Made from pumpkin sauce), Sheng Di(A kind of yam) Ban Mee and Dry Ban Mee. Since most of them are made with vegetable sauce, the noodle itself wouldn't has strong taste, but with light aroma and it is quite healthy.
Overall, the noodle taste slightly better than average and with the creativity of the owner in inventing so many Ban Mee flavors, it is worth to try. The price as shown in the menu is reasonable and probably it is one of the reason why the restaurant is quite popular.
