Perak:Sin Lean Lee Restaurant
From Malaysia - Wiki Street Food
Within Ipoh Old Town, there are many historical shop lots which are still operating and some of these are restaurants which have been serving good breakfast to locals for many years. Every morning, families or friends will drop by one of these restaurants in Old Town for a simple but satisfying breakfast. Sin Lean Lee Restaurant(新联利茶餐室) is definitely one of the restaurants that locals love to visit.
The restaurant is located within walking distance to Thean Chun (天津茶室) and Dai San Yean (大三元濑粉). It is at a corner shop lot which is quite obvious to search for. Inside the restaurant, there are a few food stalls which are selling different kinds of Ipoh foods.
One of the most famous food here is the Golden Char Kuey Teow. You can find that almost every table in this restaurant will have customer who order this dish. The version of Char Keoy Teow here is slightly different compare to Penang, which is slightly wet but still aromatic. The noodle is also smoother, but fat and thicker than usual. Reason they call this as Golden Noodle is due to the owner strategically wrap the fried noodle with some fried egg, which is different from Malay's Goreng Pattaya, but taste nice. However the price is slightly above average with the portion of noodle that they served.
Other than that, the Liu Fen stall is also serving different kinds of Ipoh local noodles. For example the curry noodle, soup noodle and others. The curry noodle is served with slices of BBQ pork and roasted pork. The soup contain less coconut milk but still taste good. With the nice presentation of the dish already worth the price.
For customer who prefer lighter breakfast, probably they can chose to have Ipoh Zhu Chang Fen, which can top up with curry pork skin, meat balls and others. The taste of this dish is average. But yet it is still an Ipoh style Zhu Chang Fen which is creamy with curry and mushroom sauce.
